KATIE GOLD - CLAY ARTIST

 From the Artist - " My work uses the process of layering thin strips of clay to create vessel forms . Upon these forms I use colour , texture and images to capture the essence of my environment - My Garden - Upper Moutere - Nelson - New Zealand .I am captured by the curves and connotations of boat forms , the texture of sand and stone and the imprints of shells , crustaceans and N.Z native flora. To create the depth of colour and pattern , a variety of surface treatments are used , including repeat firing glazes of many styles and temperatures . At some point Katie may have an online shop but at this stage there will just be a series of images to show the kinds of pieces she makes at the moment and has made in the past . Every single piece is unique and it is important to remember this when contacting for availability or when ordering a piece of Katie's work . More often than not we will have something in our gallery that will meet your needs and if not , Katie will try her best to accommodate your requirements by making or glazing a piece specifically. Remember that the whole process takes time and kiln accidents do happen.
